The Subaru Forester Wilderness is not as powerful, but this SUV can hold its own with a 2.5-liter flat-4 Subaru BOXER® engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. Ground clearance is slightly lower but still an impressive 9.2 inches. The Forester Wilderness' max towing rating is also lower at 3,000 pounds.

Just like the Outback, the Forester Wilderness' interior has StarTex® water-repellent upholstery, Enhanced Dual-Function Subaru X-Mode®, an anti-glare hood, and 17-inch matte black alloy wheels with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires. The roof rails with Anodized Copper finish accents are the same, as is the exterior's tough cladding, additional front skid plate, and dedicated grille treatment.
