Subaru SUVs provide enhanced confidence and convenience with a long list of advanced driver aids, including Subaru's innovative EyeSight® technology. All Wilderness models come standard with:
- Pre Collision Braking and Throttle Management
- Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering
- Lane-departure and Sway Warning

- High Beam Assist
- Steering-adaptive LED headlights with High Beam Assist
- Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
- Reverse Automatic Braking
Additionally, Forester and Outback Wilderness trims get a 180-degree Front-View Trail camera.
Interior/Exterior Dimensions
The most significant difference between Subaru's three Wilderness models is their size. Here's a quick look at some of the stats:
- Crosstrek Wilderness: The Crosstrek is a subcompact crossover measuring 176.4" L x 71.7" W x 63.6" H. Front/rear headroom measures 39.8 / 38.0 inches, while front/rear legroom measures 42.9/36.5 inches.
- Forester Wilderness: The Forester is a compact crossover measuring 182.7" L x 72.2" W x 68.9" H. Front/rear headroom measures 40.2 / 37.6 inches, while front/rear legroom measures 43.3/39.4 inches.
- Outback Wilderness: The Outback is a wagon-esque midsize crossover measuring 191.3" L x 74.6" W x 66.9" H. Front/rear headroom measures 40.1 / 39.1 inches, while front/rear legroom measures 42.8/39.5 inches.
Cargo Capacity
With all seats in use, the Crosstrek Wilderness retains 20 cubic feet for your gear or groceries behind the rear seats. When your adventures require more carrying capacity, you can fold the rear seats for 54.9 cubic feet. The Forester Wilderness has 26.9 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 69.1 with the rear seats folded. The Outback Wilderness has the most of the three, with 32.6 cubic feet behind the second row and 75.6 cubes behind the first.
Performance
Subaru Crosstrek and Forester Wilderness models are set in motion by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder BOXER engine that sends 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels through a Lineartronic® CVT.
If you want more under-the-hood motivation for your outdoor adventures, consider the Outback Wilderness. It upgrades to a turbocharged 2.4-liter BOXER engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.
