Technology Features

One of the most exciting things about the newly redesigned Outback is the available 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen. This is standard on all but the entry-level model, which is not exactly lacking with its seven-inch screen. All models make syncing your smartphone with your vehicle a snap thanks to standard Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. Other great tech features that are standard across the board include Bluetooth, satellite radio, and two USB ports.

Driver Aids

Your travels around Shrewsbury are made safer by the long list of standard driver aids found in the 2020 Outback. No matter which one of the six great trims you end up with, you will have a vehicle equipped with:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Automatic high beams
  • Lane keep assist
  • Lane departure warning
  • If you feel you want or need even more assistance features, select models will give you a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, a driver distraction monitor, adaptive headlights, a front-view camera, and reverse automatic emergency braking.

    Performance Facts

One of the hardest choices when it comes to the new Outback is which engine to go with. The standard is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that will give you 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. Choosing an XT model of the Outback will mean getting a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine instead. This is the way to go if you want 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Like most Subaru models, the Outback comes exclusively with all-wheel-drive. You also get a continuously variable transmission for smooth shifts with both engines.

    Fuel Economy

You can go far on a single tank of gas in the new Outback thanks to its fuel-efficient design. With the standard engine, you will get an EPA-estimated 26 MPG city and 33 MPG on the highway. These are great numbers for a vehicle in this class. Deciding you would rather have an XT model will only slightly impact these numbers, giving you 23 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.

    Exterior Features

The Outback has the features you'll need to go on your weekend adventures. Integrated roof rails with enhanced tie-downs are standard on all models. These rails are great for bringing along kayaks, skis, bikes, and more. You can fold away the crossbars when they are not needed. All models give you 8.7-inches of ground clearance, making it easy for your Outback to get you where you need to go. You get either 17-inch or 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, depending on which trim you choose.

Lighting features are not only stylish but incredibly useful for the Outback. LED headlights are standard, with the Limited trim and up getting steering-responsive ones. LED fog lights are found on all but the entry-level trim. Also standard on all but the base model are side mirrors with attractive integrated turn signals.

    The Onyx Edition XT

Drivers in the Shrewsbury area will want to be sure to check out lease options on the brand-new Onyx Edition XT of the 2020 Outback. On top of coming with the more powerful engine, this trim level will give you dual-function X-MODE. With this feature, your Outback's all-wheel-drive system can be optimized for different road conditions, including snow, dirt, and mud. Inside, you will find StarTex upholstery that is both rugged and water-repellent. Outside, there is an exclusive wheel design as well as distinctive badging for this model.

Recognized as One of the Most Dog-Friendly Vehicles

On top of all the other qualities of the Subaru Outback, it's also a dog-friendly vehicle. Many of our customers at Patrick Subaru in Shrewsbury have four-legged friends that love going on adventures with their families. We want those furry friends to have the opportunity to travel all around Worcester, exploring new sights and re-visiting favorite hang-out spots.

Autotrader recently put out a list of its top-ten cars for dog lovers. Not surprisingly, the Subaru Outback made the list. We're very proud of this distinction, and it's just another reason that the Outback is ideal for many Marlborough drivers.

The Outback is a favorite amongst dog-lovers for a few key reasons. Obviously, it's a reliable vehicle that can safely take you to almost anywhere, even if you have to go off the road to do so. In addition, it has a relatively low cargo floor and large doors. This makes it more convenient for a dog to hop in or out of the back of the cabin. Some customers have their dogs ride in carriers in the cargo area. The fact that the Outback's cargo floor is flat allows a carrier to sit comfortably upon it. No matter where they like to ride in the Outback, your dog will be happy and comfortable in the Subaru Outback.

If your dog ends up getting a little muddy on an outing to Westborough, there's no reason to be concerned, as you can quickly clean up the cabin. The available StarTex® or leather upholstery is great for this. These two types of materials can be wiped clean and are fairly resistant to dirt and water. StarTex® upholstery, in particular, is specially designed to endure the adventuring lifestyle.

Please reach out to our team if you'd like to see the new Outback in person or if you have any specific questions. Our other new Subaru vehicles share a lot of the dog-friendly perks we've described here, so make sure to check those out, too. We look forward to helping you, and maybe we can meet your furry friend!
